  • Call for Applications | CSEASI Travel Awards for participation in CCSEAS 2025

    The Canadian Southeast Asian Studies Initiative (CSEASI) will fund graduate students to attend the Canadian Council for Southeast Asian Studies (CCSEAS) conference in Victoria, 23–25 October 2025.

    To be eligible, you should be a graduate student at one of the consortium universities studying Southeast Asia and/or its diasporas. You do not need to present a paper.

    Applications with be judged on commitment to future work on Southeast Asia or its diaspora(s), financial need and academic potential.

    CSEASI expects to give out between 12 to 20 travel awards to support travel to Victoria, dependant on the distance and cost of travel.

    • The Consortium University with which you are affiliated: University of Victoria; York University; McGill University; Université de Montréal; University of Saskatchewan; University of British Columbia; Université Laval; University of Toronto; Bishop’s University
    • Level of Study—doctoral or masters.
    • Year in your program:
    • Title and 200-word description of graduate research project:
    • Does your university or research project offer funding to attend the conference? (If yes, how much)
    • Estimated cost of economy airfare:
    • Attach the following: Your CV, which should include the name and email of your supervisor.

    Next Steps

    Applications submitted before 15 August 2025 will be notified of acceptance by 01 September 2025. Applications submitted after 15 August will be considered on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted.
